I have recently taken over the responsibility of hosting the Business Breakfasts here at Shoreham Academy. These have been running since 2009 and over the years have been very successful. The Business Breakfast is open to all local businesses and we are always looking for new members. It is an ideal opportunity to network with other business associates either informally, during the breakfast and more formally through presentations.
We hold 3 events through-out the year, the next ones being held on 26th March & 16thJuly. If you would be interested in giving a presentation of your own, please let me know. We ask that presentations last between 10 & 20 minutes and we may have up to 3 presentations during one morning depending on the length of each.
Our next business breakfast will see some of our ‘Eco’ students giving a short presentation on the benefits of re-cycling. We are also looking to do a ‘speed networking’ event whereby everyone has a minute to promote their business. A business card prize draw also takes place at every meeting.
The Academy welcomes the opportunity to work more closely with the local community. We are able to share our successes and our vision for the future. We would also welcome any opportunities for businesses to come in and give presentations to our students reflecting on their experiences in the workplace. Offers of work-experience for our older students and perhaps potential job opportunities in later life are an added bonus.
We have over 250 people currently on our mailing list, but attendees range from 25 – 50 local people, and their businesses varying in size. Some are self-employed others are from larger organisations.
I hope after reading this you would like to come and join us. It is a friendly group and we have very tempting but healthy breakfasts on offer – all free of charge as well as free parking!
If you would like to come and attend the next meeting, please let me know. There is no obligation but would be a good opportunity to see what we are about and if it would be something you would be interested in attending on a more regular basis.
