I hope that many businesses take a fresh look at the importance, and indeed the responsibility, of providing apprenticeships and intern placements.
Coast to Capital Local Enterprise Partnership wants apprenticeships & interns to become more widely available across the region within companies from all sectors and professions. We do try to practice what we preach and since our formation in 2011, we’ve recruited a number of apprentices and interns who have subsequently become permanent and valuable members of our team.
Just recently, following an introduction by Georgina Angele at LoveLocalJobs.com, we were pleased to welcome Marsha Robert to the team as our new Project Support Assistant. Marsha has recently completed her Master’s degree in Public Administration at the University of Brighton. As part of her post-graduate degree she studied partnership working and we are confident her academic knowledge will benefit the team. In her role she will work closely with Malcolm Brabon, Business Support Manager to increase engagement with the Business Navigator Growth Hub.
Our region’s young people are potentially valuable resources that need to be encouraged to foster ambitions that will provide the skills, entrepreneurship, scientific and technological expertise that businesses will need in the future. Like us, many of the organisations in our region that employ apprentices and interns, tell me that they are reaping benefits in areas such as increased productivity, improved staff morale and streamlined recruitment.
I’d like more employers to offer even more opportunities in their businesses, helping to inspire more young people to achieve their full potential. It makes business sense.
